Location
The town of Aheloy is 8 km away. north of the town of Pomorie, on the shores of the great Burgas Bay. The relief is mostly flat, and to the northwest of the town there is a slight hilly terrain, known as the Strolata area.
In the immediate vicinity of the town of Aheloy is the European road E 87, connecting the cities of Burgas with Varna.
The river Aheloy, famous for the historical battle of Tsar Simeon the Great in 917, flows near the city. The battle is defined as one of the most significant historical events in the Middle Ages. The Bulgarian ruler took a personal part in the battles, leading the heavy cavalry.
The date 20.08.917 remains in Bulgarian history and with the fact that just before the Battle of Aheloy for the first time in Bulgarian history a water dedication of the battle flags is celebrated on the initiative of Tsar Simeon I.
In recent years, serious investments have been made in the small and neat town in terms of infrastructure, and the newly built luxury hotels contribute to the development of sea tourism in the municipality.Aheloy offer good conditions for family and undisturbed holidays.
